They have the look of Easter-Eggers. Even with a straight comb they could still lay blue or green eggs. Here is the problem the hatcheries throw in the breeding pen anything ( usually their culls of other breeds that don't meet their standard) so they can keep up with the demand. If the male is carrying two genes for the blue egg when mated to the culls their offspring pullets will lay blue or green eggs but only have one gene for the blue/green egg. The problem is the males from this mating is only carrying one gene also for the blue/green eggs. So when they are mated they will produce chickens that carry NO gene for the blue/green eggs. So now you are back to mongrel chickens again and everyone made money on the Newbie down the line. The Newbie is left holding the bag of chickens that will never produce blue/green eggs. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy them, just means you don't get blue/green eggs. You can go to the Ameraucana Club Site or Araucana.net and see what real Ameraucanas or Araucanas should look like. Remember everyone gets culls the idea is not to use them for breeding. HS
