I had 5 broody hens sitting on eggs all at once. The Seramas had 5 out of 8 hatch (so cute!). The Silkie and the unknown big hen are sharing a nest of big and silkie eggs. I don't know when they started. Should have hatched by now I thought. I candled a few and they are fully developed. I found a float test to see if they are viable. Most checked out. I also have a silver laced Wyandotte sitting on silkie, serama and big girl eggs. Those were due Sunday. Candled and floated fine on most of them. One hatched this weekend, a Serama I think but she crushed it. What is going on? Why is no one hatching? I have no luck with my bator. I think I had the humidity wrong on this last batch. This is frustrating!

I never have any luck with two or more hens brooding the same nest. They compete too much with each other on who has what egg or chick. Be careful of putting small eggs under large hens as they often end up broken possibly resulting in egg eating or crushed chicks. I'm sure your luck will improve!
