I have 5 chickens, 2 silkies, 1 RIR, 1 Blackwell and a ? They are all 22 weeks old. I've a collecting of eggs but have no idea which is which. The only ones I'm pretty sure if it's the rir being the darkest and the ? Being responsible for the smallest ones. Today I got 6 eggs...3 in the nesting boxes...1 brown, 1 cream and 1 small one... tonight I went out and there were 2 eggs in the grass of the run with soft shell. I removed these... I've gone to the run not 10 minutes later to find what looks like a sausage skin with an egg beside it(not in the sac). Im thinking these are from the silkies but..... would silkies lay larger eggs than the? And would they lay 3 between the 2 of them within an hour???

Not unusual for new layers to lay softshell eggs.
What all and how exactly are you feeding?
Good to put out a separate feeder with Oyster Shell.

They have oyster shell available at all times in a separate dish and fed on layers pallets. The eggs from the other 3 have really hard shells.
