one is still drying off but the other one is fluffy. there are still 3 more eggs under them, and I was wondering if they will still hatch. Today is day 20, so the other two hatched 2 days earlier.

I was also wondering if I need to put chick starter in the coop for the baby chicks to eat? this is my first time hatcing chicks, so any advice is apperciated. thank you.

I will post pictures once they dry off.

My first broody has four baby chicks. I really don't know the proper things to do. I have both chick starter & layer pellets in the run.

As far as the eggs still unhatched, give it more time. Mine was out of the box with the hatched chicks the day after they hatched. I removed the last egg & opened it to "see when the chick died." The chick was alive. Yolk absorbed. Had not pipped. The chick quickly died.

I don't know if the hen would have returned to sit on the egg or if the chick would have died because ma left the nest. I do know she never returned to the box so I removed it from the pen.

The chicks will live off of the yolk for a couple of days. I've always heard it's not a good idea to feed them at first but to have some water close by. By the 3rd day they should be good and hungry and ready for starter food.

Thank you for your replies. sorry to hear about your little chick ChickieKeeta. I am going to leave the eggs in since they were supposed to hatch tommarow. Hopefully more hatch. thankyou again.
