Will you explainYes but it is uncommon
It's a glitch with newer layers. Once their reproductive system is developed fully and has a chance to start working they will stop laying extra eggs occasionallyWill you explain
I thought it took 25 hours? That's why even the perfect layers can't lay every single day the entire season?I don't have the scientific numbers in front of me, but it takes less than 24 hours for an egg to form. If I remember correctly 23 hours. It might be completed at night. They can hold the egg until laying is convenient. The next egg can start to form before the other is layed. This makes it possible for a hen to have a day where she lays an egg in the morning and one in the evening. Also as others mentioned pullet's systems can have some glitches.
I had heard that on a national geographic special but looking it up now I see different "opinions" on it. I wonder if each hen might vary a little as some sources say longer than 24 hours.I thought it took 25 hours? That's why even the perfect layers can't lay every single day the entire season?
