I save eggshells for the compost pile but was wondering if the pullets would benefit from them more once they begin laying. I would put them in a ziploc bag and crush with a rolling pin (no coffee grinder) until they are nearly a powder.

Would this make their eggs have thicker shells?

I save my shells and whir them around in the blender and give them to my hens to help their laying. It's the same as buying oyster shell or anything like that to help them.
