El Monte, California
Hi everyone my name is Jose and I live in El Monte California, right next to Baldwin park and close to L.A. My flock consists of a Delaware and 2 Easter egger pullets, and a Swedish flower hen and a rooster and hen that I don't know what they are, two huskies and a pit bull Labrador mix and two adorable baby bunnies.
if anyone around here or close to here has any Sumatras or knows where I can get some, that would be awesome, thanks :)

Hi Jose,

Hey, nice to know someone from El Monte, nice flock and animals you have. I am planning to buy a house hopefully next year either in El Monte or South El Monte, currently living in LA. Are you guys allow to have roosters? Currently I have 3 giant jersey hens, 1 red island, 1 giant jersey rooster, and 16 pullets (about 6 weeks- 7 naked necks, 5 BLWR, 3 orpington), and about to hopefully get 12 more GJs hatching this week.

Are you guys allow to have rooster in El Monte, I contacted the city, and they sent me the ordinance but the wording is so confusing.

Let me know bro,
Geremias

Honestly I have no idea. I have been told both by different people, not only about roosters but chickens in general. I do know someone nearby, still in El Monte, that has a lot of game fowl and mostly roosters, and someone down my street that also owns a rooster since I can hear it everyday, but for now I assume we are not allowed to have chickens unless your neighbors don't complain.
My chickens are in plain sight to other people though, since I keep them in my front yard and no one has complained. However, I do plan on concealing that portion of the yard by covering the fence with wood or something, just in case.
Also there is a feed store called Wes's pets n feed nearby my house on peck and killian that carries baby chicks and also has roosters for sale that people bring him, so that also sort of leads me to believe we are allowed to keep them.

Thank you bro, according to the city code ordinance and what I understand, chickens are allow in certain areas. And I am surprise your neighbors have not complain about your chicken in your front yard, but yes you should build a chicken coop or a fence so they do not go to other houses.

Well they are visible but you have to be looking in or hearing because I have trees giving a lot of shade and there is a tall fence but it's chain link. Its almost like a huge chicken run so they don't get out but it's visible

Cool, yeah I have been around those areas and really like El Monte, hopefully by next year I would be able to buy my house....I know there is like a river by there too but when I went it was dry.

Hi,I'm from El Monte too.I have 10 girls and 2 boys. One of my boys (Light Brahma)started crowing early this month. I don't know if it's okay to have them. I'm afraid that our neigbhors will complain about the noise. I decided to keep our boys inside our house so that our neigbhors can barely hear it.
