I have a 7 year old Easter Egger hen who is not feeling well and I'm not sure what is wrong or if there's anything I can do for her. Earlier this spring I noticed she had slowed down, not keeping her tail up, fluffed up feathers, kind of raspy/heavy breathing with occasional sneezes, and watery poops. I dewormed her with Safeguard, gave her BMD, then Doxy-Tyl, then Corrid, and a course of probiotics after each medication. This was all spaced out over the last 3.5 months. Her poops are normal now, but she's still slow/tired, still breathing more heavily than the other hens (but not wheezing or sneezing), still hanging her tail, and is fluffed up. Her crop is normal, she's eating and drinking and preening and roosting normally. No mites, feathers in good condition, vent looks normal. She's definitely dropped down in the pecking order. She hasn't laid an egg in a year, but I figured she'd just retired. She laid consistently for 5 years, then sporadically for a year, then she stopped. She doesn't seem like she's in pain when I handle her, just tired. Is she just elderly and on her way out? Maybe some kind of reproductive tract cancer? Anything else I should consider or ways to keep her comfortable? Thanks

I would just let her be with the others and try to make her as comfortable as possible. They really prefer to be with their flock as long as possible where they can hang out. Seven years is long time for some hens. We are lucky to have them when one lives to be 10 or 11 or older.

The lovely lady is making her way out. As long as she is not getting picked on let her enjoy her friends on her last days. I had to move my lady to a prefab in the yard due to our hormone fueled teenage rooster trying to take her out.
She spent her last couple of days tooling around the yard with a buddy for company.
If it's hot where you are having a fan on her to move the air will give great comfort to her.
