anyone use electric fence around your coop/run to keep predators from digging under or climbing over ???????/

I'm thinking about running a wire around the top of my fence and another about 6" off the ground all the way around the fence and coop .

anyone doing this ???? ...... any suggestions ?????

I have a solar powered charger. Works great. My dogs stay a good distance away from the coop now

I will say to make sure that your chickens can't touch it. I lost a duck that stuck its head through welded wire and out 5 inches to the electric wire.

We got the electric mesh fencing, and we love it! We have it around the run for the meat chickens, and have a huge free ranging area fenced off for the laying hens. No losses yet!

I use it around the coop and around my yard and it works GREAT! It keeps out the idiot bird dog and the massive mastiff, as well as the neighbors roaming cats that are insane enough to brave the yard o' dogs.

We use electric wire fencing and have about 6 wires all around the coop and run at different levels posted for safety!
We have an on off switch for the kids to use, and its also plugged up at the coop where it can be easily accessed there too.
WE have killed 3 snakes with it this year 4 mice, many toads and bugs galore!
It has kept out several dogs, cats raccoons and opossums, so we are thankful for it and highly recommend using one--

We have it posted with PVC pipes outside of the chicken wire out of reach for the hens...but very low for snakes, and the other levels for different wildlife helps too!

Hope this helps you!
