This is probably a dumb question, but I thought I should ask before doing it. We have older hens that we think would benefit from putting electrolytes in their 5 gal water container over the winter. However, we also have a submersible deicer from tractor supply (Farm Innovators cast aluminum) Will adding electrolytes to the water corrode the deicer?

Probably not. However, you only want to give electrolytes for a day or two per week. The rest of the week they should just have plain clean water. I always give my birds electrolytes during extreme temperatures to help them with the stress.

I don't think it would have any impact and create a chemical reaction. The concentration is so minimal. And as mentioned, don't overly do the additive, they don't need it and can be counter productive. Good looking out though for your seniors and no question is dumb~ But sometimes the answers are! :duc:D
