:-( what should i get for my girls? What steps should i do? I have 8 babies chicks in a different location they are about 3 weeks old... Im still a newbie when it comes to chickens.

(-_-) this past week ive let them out of the pen quite a few time to free range and allow them to walk around more. Could this be why they have fowl poxs?

Thanks for the links ive read them. Just beeing a worried momma lol, its my first crew. My flock is 7 hens and 2 roos i read that they need lots of vitiams is my flock consider a big flock? And both roo will run every time you get close to them... I would be worried about the hens taking all the nutrions if i place nutrion feed and snaks out for them and the roos amd silkies will be left with none...

We are all worried mommas sometimes! Your flock is a good size. Everyone will get food. There is a pecking order but they all find a way. If your worried provide food or goodies in more then one location. Sometimes there is a bully or two but you know your birds.

You will probably need more girls if you keep two roosters. You mention silkies which are Bantam. Do you have both standard size and Bantam? Sometimes you can get away with Bantam roosters and standard hens in a smaller ratio. Everyone has an opinion on roo to hen numbers but 1 rooster for 8 hens is an average.

What you feed depends on age. You'll want chick feed for youngsters then an all flock. You can switch to a layer feed once the girls start to produce. Again what to feed has lots of opinions too. It's a protein/calcium balance most people dance with. (I personally feed Feather Fixer all the time.) Mine also don't know they are chickens and get spoiled frequently.

Honestly you have to wait Pox out.

If you have questions you'll find several people with opinions here! LOL Do what you feel is best.

We have one old roo and a young roo... Hes not matured yet and i planned to place him with our other batch of hens when they get of age. Just didnt want to separate the two roos because we got them two as a pair. My silkies are both hens, i dont know if there bantam. Yes my older hens bully the silkies and the little roo. Thats why it worries me, i want to make sure they will be all taken care of. Ill most likely separate the silkies and little roo, to make sure they are getting what they need. About how long does this virus runs its course?

these are my silkies.

Keep your chicks away from the older ones until the pox has gone away, since the scabs and direct contact can help spread the virus. Do not disturb scabs. Pox usually lasts about 3 weeks, but it can slowly spread from bird to bird in the flock. Dry pox is usually not serious, but sometimes they can get wet pox which involves yellow patches inside the throat and airway. Wet pox is very serious, and chicks can be affected worse with either type.
