We recently lost our favorite Easter egger named sweetheart. She was fine in the morning when my Dad opened the coop, she laid an egg that day and seemed fine when I got home and let the flock out to free range. At 7:30 pm she seemed very lethargic I had to pick her up to put her in the coop.we couldn't see anything wrong. My Dad checked her in the middle of the night and she was gone. My Dad thinks maybe a copperhead snake bit her we have them in the woods around our home. All the other chickens are fine, it's been a week since this happened. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I know it's too late now, but did you dad noticed any puncture bites on her?

We looked but couldn't tell, we can't think of anything that would make her go that fast.
