Encouraging wild ducks to lay in your yard

Hi all,

We are going to lease a house on a canal that flows from a large city lake. When we were looking at the property, we saw a duck egg that had been laid on the cement by the pool in the backyard. Is there a way to encourage more ducks to come and lay eggs for us to collect?

Thanks,

Lesley

Sure, give your yard a lite dusting of meal worms every morning.

LOL..that would do it.

There are other treats that would interest ducks...

Lettuce
Clover
High protein cat food (My ducks LOVE taste of the wild cat food)
watermelon

It is illegal.

if they are just 'abandoned' eggs i dont see why you couldnt just put them under a duck hen or something. you can always send them to a wildlife rescue/rehab place after theyre hatched.

BUT! If they're a breed thats well populated in the area i wouldnt mess with them. last thing anyone needs is more seagulls
