Hey Everyone!
I'm a bit new to gardening and am planting in raised beds in Zone 9. I am planting Sweet Corn, Yukon Potatoes, Sweet Peas, Carrots, French Green Beans, and Cowpeas. After harvesting will I need to pull these plants and start over or can I keep them for another season or two?

Thank you!

I don't want to give you bad advice, I'm not good with zones, I'm not even sure what zone im in I think 6 or 7 maybe 8. The corn and carrots will be done and anything left in the ground may rot. The potatos might last over winter but if it gets really wet where you are again they could rot. The others I'm not sure. For the most part though if it can freeze, it will die and rot and won't be properly composted before next season increasing your chance of fungus in the soil.

Best bet is once the plant starts to die back pull it and remove it too a compost. I generally start over each year as beside strawberrys and asparagus most of mine where 1 season only

You will want to harvest from all of those plants. Then, compost the remains, and plant again. You would do well to talk to folks on your state thread to see how they manage their gardens. Your zone 9 might as well be on a different planet compared to my zone 4/5. In your zone, you will most likely do most of your growing through fall into early winter, and start again in very early spring into early summer. I'm guessing the heat and dry of summer will not be condusive to growing much.

Thank you. Down here, It is a matter of keeping everything watered and fertilized as consistently as possible. Ive planted green beans, corn, potatoes, and tomatoes before. Everything was successful but the corn because it was overcome with ants. Everything else I'm new to.
