Endangered Breeds?

We decided we have the time and space to have another flock of a single breed. Someone suggested if we were going to breed a single breed we should consider an endangered breed.. After discussing it we agree that that would be a good way to go. My question is, what are considered "endangered breeds" .. We would like to do this, we have the space, time, and funds to do this.. The only thing holding us back is to decide what breed we would like

There are lists from various organizations, like The Livestock Conservancy one here. http://www.livestockconservancy.org/index.php/heritage/internal/poultry-breeds It does get rather confusing since some breeds are divided between Heritage, Show, and Hatchery lines and they can be very different, you can have the Heritage type be rare, while half the hatcheries offer their version.
