Hi I recently had a peahen hatch a single chick . I moved her and the chick to an 8 by 10 pen . At what age can I move her and the chick back in with my 5 year old peacock and 3 yr old hen. The larger pen has a 12 by 14 inside enclosure with an outside 20 by 20 pen which they access through a small door. I live in the upper penninsula of michigan so I shut them inside during the coldest months. Is this pen large enough for four adult bird ?

Usually you keep hens with chicks with males and other hens. My hen has been raising chicks with my male the entire time. I think that for a male and 2 hens the pen is definitely big enough since the fourth is only a chick right now I would think that's okay. Are you going to keep the chick or are you going to sell the chick?

I was going to keep them all together but was afraid the male or other female might hurt the chick . They are in pens next to each other and can see each other . I have not decided if I am keeping the chick but probably will if it is a female if it's a male I would need a new large pen for it. Right? The males would fight eventually?

Males will fight during breeding season. Females will fight each other if they walk into each others nests too. Males are the ones you have to watch though and is better to keep separated if possible.

One more question...... This chick hatched late in the season and this week our night time temps are in the high 40s days high 60s will the chick stay war enough with mom?
