Hello all! I've known about this forum for a while now, but I just decided to try it out. I'll go ahead and introduce myself. Sorry if this is a bit long lol...
My internet nickname is Pancake, and that is what I prefer to be called. My real name is Cassandra, and you may call me that if you wish. I do of course have a serious chicken addiction that cannot be cured. XP But I do have other interests. Not sure how out of place I really am here, we'll see. I do forum roleplaying, particularly with my many meerkat characters, I am also a fanfiction writer and a digital artist. I once made a goal to draw every chicken breed and I may do so again~ I'm also a youtube animator, but in truth, chickens are my life source. I cannot live without them. I am a high-functioning autistic, and my chickens serve as my therapy animals. If I'm having a bad day it helps to have girls who will sit on my lap whether I want them to or not. Though I won't lie, it does get tough sometimes. xD
I am a poultry enthusiast. I live in all ends of chicken lovers, production, exhibition, and just pet owners. :3 I love many breeds, and have kept many as well. In the past I've kept the following breeds: Australorp, Sebright, Polish, Sultan, D'Uccle, Cochin, Orpington, Production Reds... And many others that don't come to mind, but I've had lots of Brahmas, large and bantams. They've had a lasting effect on me, I love Brahmas and would raise them for show if I could! I do, however, have a love for all chickens and would like to raise a great many more breeds than I have right now.
I am no newcomer to the poultry world, but there was a period of no less than four years where I moved away from chickens after many were killed off by raccoons. It wasn't until I took an Animal Science class that I was able to weasel my way into them again. As my SAE for FFA, I ordered some Buff Brahmas with my teacher from Ideal Poultry with the intent of breeding them for show, or at least to start off. I quickly learned that my 5 chickens were not show quality, especially as far as size goes (which frankly disappointed me, I love large birds) but I love them either way. ^^
My four hens are Lilifey, Mozart, Kalahari and Sahara. Since they are currently at a public historic farm, I also have a cock, Zaphod. He's not as friendly as the girls of course, but he's still friendly, and has never shown any aggression. I regret to say though that eventually I will have to sell him, and some of my hens too to make room for my six new arrivals. I recently bought a Delaware (Julia), a White Leghorn (Fiore), a Barred Plymouth Rock, an Easter Egger, a Black Transylvanian Naked Neck, and a Welsummer from IFA. They buy their chicks from Privett Hatchery. All are pullets. :3
I think that's it... Right...? Yeah, hehe. Anyways, eager to meet you all, I've read all the rules and will try to do everything right, but I can't say how active I will be. I try to stay active on two other forums as well as dA, and besides that I have an animation series and my art to do, and of course my chickens come first. But I will do my best.
