Korra my hen that has been sick off and on for months is sick again. I wormed, I used corrid, I gave full treatments of Fagyl and Baytril. She got getter, but her poo has never returned normal. In the last couple days she is going back to acting I'll. What little she eats looks undigested to me.
One last. Try...Id like to treat for enteritis. Her symtoms seem right. I belive TS has Tylan....how much, what type howon Earth to give plese help :(
Just fyi..the vets around me don't treat chicken just cull them :(

First you have to go and buy it, and let us know what strength it is, as the liquid and soluble forms are different strengths and therefore need to be dosed differently.

I don't like to give antibiotics in water - it is too 'hit and miss' to be certain they are getting the right dosage. I work out how much medicine the bird needs for her bodyweight, and then give that amount mixed into a treat that I know she will eat.

Once you buy it post a photo of the label, or tell us what is says (strength, dosage etc) and we will help you work out how much to give your bird.

I got the tylan 50...she is 4 lbs and 5 ounces by a food scale I got her to stand on. I sure hope its something I can give oral...I'm so much better at that!

On poultrypedia the dosage given for Tylan 50 is 1.6cc. They say it is a lot for an injection, but many people give it orally with no problems at all. (Note - although there is a very, very minor difference, to all intents and purposes 1.6cc = 1.6ml, so if you get a 1 or 2ml syringe then you will be able to dose it accurately.) https://sites.google.com/a/poultrypedia.com/poultrypedia/medicine-chart

To make sure she gets the full dose, drip it onto or mix it into a treat that she will eat - a piece of bread, cooked white rice, scrambled egg etc and make sure she eats it all.

I would give it for a minimum of 5 days, maybe even 7, then follow up with probiotics to ease any digestive problems. I had a chicken with necrotic enteritis / clostridium perfringens, that I thought was at death's door; I gave massive antibiotics because it had been going on for a while, she had lost a lot of weight and it was a case of 'kill or cure'. (It cured her!)

(Just to note, someone on the thread has added that they gave 0.5ml of Tylan 50 - don't be misled - that is the dose for Tylan 200, not the 50.)

Good luck for your girl, let us know how it goes.

Ok great! Thanks. I tried everything with moderate improvment jst over a month ago. But notice she is staying on her own not eting much laying down, and her poop is back green and grassy stuff looks undigested. Since I've tried just about all else, figured this can't hurt rather than just watch her die. Thanks so much!

Thank you ...I've started think I'll go 7 days. Poor girl has been through the ringer. She is so sweet. Will keep ya all posted
