My Buff Orphington rooster who I needed to find a home for and haven't, is tearing the feathers off the backs of my hens. I have just trimmed his nails but it's not going to help unless I get them down to just buds which I can't because of the bleeding. I was thinking attaching epoxy balls to his nails, any other ideas out there? I would love to find him a good home (he was supposed to be a pullet chick). I found an article on taking off spurs but I don't believe it's the spurs that is tearing the feathers out. I have to do something soon, the girls need to start growing the feathers back in for the cold winter months.
