The other day I was working on a shelter to get the birds some shade. I don't lock the pen when I'm in there because I don't want to get locked in.

I noticed one of the birds had escaped and was in the woods. What a mess.

Russell our rooster called her in a couple of times, but she would have nothing of me trying to catch her.

I decided to leave her until dusk. I went back out and opened the back door to the coop & walked away. She jumped right in and went to bed.

The moral of the story is that chickens haven't a clue where to go when they escape so they just stay put.
