Of my 7 girlies only one causes me worry! Well lots of worry really!!
Her name is Cracker and she’s now five months old, our garden is secure so my chuckles are free range when we are home and penned when we are out, Cracker has become an escapologist, she climbs and flies over gates and hedges, she’s been on the roof and into our neighbours garden.
I know we could have her wings clipped to stop the flying but she’s such a ‘naughty’ chicky
She’s been in the house and ‘talked’ to our budgies, she ‘paddles’ in the drinking bowl and keeps herself to herself ‘chuckling and checking’ anything she might have missed
The last straw was finding her on the roof, do others get one chicken that’s so ‘special’ they have to keep all the flock penned in for long periods of time or is she just unique!🐓

It might seem cute now, but your neighbors won't be amused having chicken poo in their garden or patio, or when she's eating their vegetable garden, or rearranging their flower beds.
And she's so vulnerable to predators!

Oh I quite agree, although the neighbour is a chicken fan I do agree one chicky can soon munch through your new plants( as I soon discovered)
I think we’ll rename her ‘renegade’ and sort out a pen just for her to live in, humour aside though I agree about predators so it might be wing clipping for her in the short term!

Every once in a while your get one adventurous with spirit of research. They can be very entertaining and often are quite intelligent.

To not have her bother your neighbour I would advise to clip the feathers of one wing. So she at least will not be able to fly over the fences or up on the roof.

Edit: Often the adventurous spirit subsides as soon as the laying sets in.

I had a couple of birds that no matter what coop and pen I put them in they could find a way out, Houdini-1 and Houdini-2. Eventually they disappeared. One I never found or any sign of her but the other I found feathers behind the coops. They got out one too many times.

ooh sad story😦

Just cut one wing to put them off balance. Often times if you cut both wing they will figure it out. Good luck...
