New chicken Mom here! My apologies if this is posted somewhere else and I missed it, but what essentials are recommended to be kept on hand for chicken illness or injuries? I’d like to put together a chicken first aid/illness kit stocked with essentials.

I would look for where you can get certain medicines, but don’t buy a lot of things because as you know they can become outdated before you might need them. Some may only be available online.
Some basics that I would keep would be:
Chlorhexidene, plain Neosporin ointment, 2x2 gauze pads, vet wrap or coban, BluKote spray, Nustock Cream, coconutt oil, and a medium sized wire dog crate.
Some medications that might be handy and some of which may soon not be available for a possible disease would be:
Corid (amprollium,) 10% Enrofloxacin/Baytril presently banned for chickens, but very food for severe infection or salpingitis, Poultry NutriDrench or Poultry Cell vitammin and electrolyte tonic, and Tylosin powder.

Here are a few other links with suggesttions:

Welcome to BYC. You can learn a lot by reading the emergency forum every day, and there are lots of articles in the Learning Page, coop ideas, and other such info. Since most articles are the author’s opinion, read as much as you can and filter the best info. BYCers are very opinionated.
