For those North Texas BYC raisers that don't process chickens themselves, where do you go and how much does it generally cost?

I'm assuming the more you have processed the better the deal. I will probably start calling around to get estimate, but thought I'd start here first.

Thanks.

I am not in the North Texas area - I am in Southeast Texas (Houston) area but I noticed that you had not received a reply. I recently took 28 birds to a processor here and the cost was $3 per bird. I would think prices should be similar in your area. Hope that helps!

Jackschicks,

Thanks, that does help. I assume there should be some sort of similarity in price and I was hoping it would be no more than 3 dollars. I'm hoping to find a butcher near me that would provide a discount based on the amount.

Up here they charge 3 dollars a bird for butcher and wrap in freezer paper, it's extra to have the carcass cut into pieces or for shrink wrap or vacuum seal, also extra for USDA inspection. I have been doing it myself so far.
