After you had made all of the different sections (teal, divers, etc.) i downloaded the thread onto my laptop that way i could access any of the information without it being on the web.

Thanks. I need to head over to Hahira some day to see how you are set up to handle all this. Do you sell birds out of state?

me too.. I want to go visit! I love seeing other breeders places and sitting around talking.. as long as I don;t take my dad with me..

How lond does it take to get your permit? I sent mine off over a month ago and the check still hasn't cleared... I was worried about the game wanders coming out to our farm too to inspect things and come to find out we know all of them... so great when they come out they will be around a while! ugh... my dad likes to talk!

back in my day, a week..heard reports now a days though of several months...they just dont seem to care to get in a hurry any more.

I knew all mine too, local county wardens did mine.
Only problems would come when they'd bring their Federal Buddies with them on the random inspections from Atlanta. They do that from time to time.
Local guy would just come look, see everything was healthy and penned and say alright see ya.
When the Feds come....well you have to show everything, especially since I had endangered species.
Have to show all your 3-186 forms and all.
I always attached mine to a piece of note book paper and put them in a spiral binder.
Had one for sales, and 1 for purchases.
Come in handy when they try to get you to slip up. Just throw it in the laps and tell them to have at it...LOL

They didnt mess with me any more after they saw how well I kept up with it.

But the Federal ones sure know their birds. There wasnt a thing in the aviaries they couldnt ID at a glance.. Local guy knew the wood ducks LOL ...that was it...
I think the main reason the Fed came was to check out the Laysan Teal and Nene Geese though... that and he wanted to see an eider in Georgia, personally came out and said that.

I wonder why they only come out to inspect if you have a sale permit but not if you simply buy them for your own use? Ever heard of the Feds coming to see a place that a permit holder SOLD ducks to? I mean if you sell ducks to someone and give them their 3-186, why don't the Feds go inspect that person's pens, etc.? I assume it is because they don't involve themselves with them until they want to sell them which could spread disease???? Assuming the seller wants to do it legally. I guess there are some that would sell them without a sale and disposal permit.
