Evaluating BLRW plumage early? (pic HEAVY)

I'm not good at sexing them so I can't help you there.I'm glad your pleased with them .You'll really like them when they grow out.The parents all came from top lines and I love my flock.Cara is 100% correct that the lacing will change on them as they grow and go through different stages.Mine went through a ugly stage also but when they came out of it I was very happy with them.

Here's some 3 week old chicks. These 2 ended up blue hens with gorgeous lacing:

And a splash hen with gorgeous lacing:

And this one with the more defined lacing ended up a gorgeous blue roo:

It seems to me that the chicks that have the lacing with the more barred look come out to have the better lacing as adults. Look at this picture of this chick i had, she had whiter legs and the wrong comb but her lacing came out very nice compaired to some of my others.

THANKS everyone!!! This thread has been very encouraging for me, (excpet maybe I have mostly roosters! LOL Oh well. That seems to be what I am hatching here at home this year. Too bad I am not into a certain prohibited sport. I'd be doing cartwheels.

Those are such cute chicks. Now I can't wait to get my eggs from JamesA. So as the bird matures, the lacing changes?
