Have any of you made a coop out of random items you find around the house or shed? I'm planning on building cheap show coops and I need ideas. Any idea would be appreciated and possibly used by me or other readers. Thanks for the help

We incorporated an old hardside above ground pool as walls and roof for our coop. It'll last forever being hard plastic over fiberglass. You might find one for free. They are otherwise pretty useless.

When my chicks were big enough to go outside in the day but still sleeping inside at night, I stapled chicken wire and screwed some plywood to a wooden sawhorse to make a chicken tractor. I still use it as a sawhorse in the yard.

If you can find a neighbor that has a solid old Satellite dish you can make a round coop with it as the roof.
Those have multiple uses coop, gazebo, storage shed, aviary etc. Mine is going to become a gazebo because
I don't feel like any more coops for the time being. Here is a photo from Mother Earth about using one of these
as a gazebo. They are quite large.

I'm building a small breeder cage though for my bantams. I used their old rabbit cage with the tray on bottom.
I removed one side of the rabbit cage and bent the side connectors out. I made a basic box with a nest box
and a door that opened on the back. I also made another soda pop window for it. My creativity got cut off though
because I had to use it for a broody hen and her chicks and have never finished it.
