I'm very sad to hear that evergreen park does not allow chickens!!! Super disappointed. I'm a stem teacher and will be hatching baby chicks soon and was hoping to take some home. I've started my research on how to care for them etc and pens. How do you go about having the city begin to allow chickens?

Welcome!

Sorry that you are not able to keep chickens [yet

I think your best starting point would be the ‘Local Chicken Laws & Ordinances (and how to change them)’ Forum: https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/37/local-chicken-laws-ordinances-and-how-to-change-them

Good luck!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Hi and welcome to BYC - you have the best link already from Teila so I'll just say hello!

You could post on the Illinois state thread where someone may be able to give you more info. I'm pretty sure we've have at least two members from Evergreen Park, although they may have "stealth" coops don't ask - don't tell. You may be able to have a house chicken or two, if it was quiet and the neighbors didn't notice. You can check out "people with house chickens.

I hope things can be worked out so you'll be allowed to have chickens!
