Evergreen State Fair Poultry Show - Monroe, WA - Sept. 1st - 3rd

Hi Anne,

I hope you get this. I looked for you at the Fair yesterday but never saw anyone around your birds. You had very stiff competition from Steve as he has some of the best Araucanas in the country and has won "Best AOSB" many times. Having said that, I can tell you that I heard at least one person say that you had a bird there that might give him a run for his money and he even said they were very good looking birds.

My Ameraucanas did well according to the cards but they were the only true Ameraucanas there. The others were EEs and I think the judges are beginning to learn what to look for with the Ameraucanas vs. EEs.

If you happened to see the Welsummer and Barnevelders on Champion Row, they were mine. Best Continental and Reserve Continental, respectively. One of my Pekins took Best Heavyweight and one of my Swedish Blues took Best Mediumweight.

How did you do?

Oh btw, if you send me an email, I'll give you my cell phone #. That way if I don't see you on Friday, you can give me a call if you'd like. Be nice to meetcha.

God Bless,

Hey there!

I saw your Ameraucanas, Barnevelders, and at least one Welsummer. They were gorgeous!!! Congratulations on your placings!!!

I would be flattering myself to say I am Steve's competition. I have only been breeding Araucanas for 5 years, he is way ahead of me! My personal opinion is that he is by far the best Araucana breeder in the country.

I did not stay all day, I had two tired, grumpy kiddos on tow. Steve's white large fowl rooster had just made Best Large Fowl when I left.

I didn't do so well, my BBR cockerel was placed best (only) of variety, my AOV pullet was disqualified for not being a standard color. Funny, at the APA nationals I had a different AOV pullet of about the same quality, but she was not disqualified. It's a shame, the DQ's pullet was attracting a lot of attention from passers-by.

They both are only 5 months old and still have a lot of filling out to do, perhaps they will do better at the Cascade Spring Show.

I am going to try to be at the fairgrounds around 4:30 pm tomorrow for when the birds are released at 5. Will you be there? I have medium-long red hair, probably in a ponytail. Most likely I will be taking some photos of the birds to post on the Araucana Club Forum.

Hi Anne,

I'm in the same place with my Ameraucanas. I have so far to go with catching up to many others. But I enjoy the challenge of trying to and enjoy the learning even more.

I was serious about what I heard with regard to your birds and what Steve said about them. That is quite a compliment.

I'll try to be there by 1630 too. I'll be wearing khaki cargo pants, a maroon shirt with flies on it, and wearing a Cabelas camo ballcap.

See ya there!

God Bless,
