At first I couldn't believe it, both because she's a White Leghorn and I was told they never go broody, and because she's an ex-bat and had gone through so much in her life before coming to live with us. But then I was forced to conclude that if a chicken sits like a broody, clucks like a broody, and puffs up her feathers like a broody (not to mention poops like a broody...), then I must call her a broody. She has been sitting faithfully for a week now and has five eggs under her. She goes crazy when someone gets near the nest; she used to share it with one of her friends, but now the other chicken was forced to go and find a different laying place.

This isn't her, but another of our ex-bats; however, they all look identical.
If she does manage to hatch some chicks, I will let you know and post pictures.
I wonder, has anyone else seen an ex-bat go broody?
