I got a letter the other day from one of my favorite Govt agencies: the Internal Revenue "Service". I'm not sure why they used the word service because they have never done anything but be a pain in the rump. Anyway, the letter said that I hadn't filed my 2003 taxes. I thought back and for some reason, I couldn't remember a lot about that time period. I tried and tried and then I remember why that time frame was so foggy...... I was still married!

before I go any further, I have nothing against marriage. I loved being married. I didn't really like being married to one Satan's helpers (who ended up cheating on me with one of our married friends who also had two kids who was also 20 years her senior) but I digress. So I called my ex(evil

) since she did our taxes and generally never let me do anything, and inquired if she too had been contacted by the Feds. She said she would have to call me right back because she had to "put the kids to bed". I wanted to say" oh you mean your boyfriend's kids who was married when you started seeing him. Those kids?" but being a good southern boy, I didn't have anything nice to say

so I just said ok. When she called me back, she talked to me just like nothing had happened. it made me

It has been 4 years and I have moved on but I still don't really like her.

I just wanted to vent a little. I guess it could have been worse but having to deal with her and the IRS was bad enough for one day!

Advice from my DH.

My DH ex wife failed to file their taxes one year while they were married. She led him to believe it was taken care of. After they divorced he was also contacted by the friendly IRS folks. This past year was the first year he actually got a refund as they had been taking his $ to pay for the back taxes. She didn't end up paying any of it because she was suddenly unemployed!

Does she keep copies? Did she go through a tax agency like H&R block? Is so they may have copies. I am sure there has to be proof somewhere if they were filed. For your ex to remember how much you two got back from 6 years ago, makes me think she either has an excellent memory or she had to of looked it up.

Good luck with the IRS!

She always kept good records. She said she has the forms where she figured everything up and mailed it off herself. I will probably end up owing the govt.

Oh! that DOES simplify things then! Simply call whatever 800 number and inform them that your ex wife has proof of payment and she can be reached at #..... Since it was a joint return you're both on the hook
