Because I love my Welp Blue Australorps that I got from Carolina Town and Country last year I wanted to order more. I put together a 25-bird order for the April 12th hatch and submitted it Monday night.

Today I was contacted by the customer service rep because the Blue Australorps wouldn't be available until the June 2nd hatch.

I was offered the option of moving my date or subbing another breed and I moved my date.

That made it possible, though not definite, that the Blue Plymouth Tints might not be available. So she let me have time to look at the website and then email her a list of substitutions so that if there was a problem with that breed I'd be ready to go without further problems.

It's unfortunate that demand has overwhelmed supply this way, especially since I thought I was ordering nice and early, but the customer service dealing with the problem couldn't have been better and I think that deserves public acknowledgement.

That's good to hear. Ordered from them for 30 bantams in early march. What are the blue tints?

A Leghorn -- Barred Rock cross that I thought sounded interesting. Supposed to be good with heat, which is a likely problem for me here in steamy central NC.

When I was first making plans back in October I had last year's catalog and was going to get White Legbars and Empordanesas but they didn't have them this year. :(

I was able to find a list of subs that I'd be happy to have.

That's great. Do you know if they usually send extras? Or just the exact number ordered
I don't know. I haven't ordered from them before.

I got my flock from the farm store but I know they'd ordered that batch from Welp because no one else had the same combination of available breeds and they only had one hatchery's order come in that day.

I have space for packing peanuts if any show up, but I don't expect them with a 25-bird minimum order.
