Exchequer Leghorn leg color?

is it possible for hatchery Exchequer Leghorns to have white legs?

I've seen just about everything come from a hatchery....so a Leghorn with white legs would be no surprise..... Exhibition Leghorns have yellow legs or yellow with a dusting of another color over the yellow.....there is nothing wrong with white legs unless you want to show them..... or plan to sell them to other breeders...then they need to know about the leg color.... Exchequer is such a wonderful color variety....send some photos....!

Should be a nice bright yellow, can fade with time. check out the leghorn thread on byc, very nice group of peeps!

All Leghorns *should* have yellow legs. I have some white Leghorns with pink legs, as they've been selectively bred (not by me) for maximum egg production and not leg colour. They horrify serious Leghorn fans, but as utility birds they suit me fine as they're by far the best layers I've ever had. Paired with the correct leg colour roo, you could probably breed yellow legged offspring from your pink legged Exchequer quite easily. I'm not certain on this though as the genetics of it is something I'm still struggling to understand.

A yellow legged male crossed to white legged females (pure for white) will produce chicks 100% white legs that carry yellow. If the white leg female carries yellow then you could get some yellow legged offspring in both sexes....it's when you get into the blue/yellow willow crosses that are sexlinked and a bit more tricky..... hope this helps?
