Excited about chickens newbie from Malvern, Pa! Hi all!

Enjoying my 4 week old pullets- 2 barred rocks, 2 mottled javas, and 2 ameracaunas! Chickens are so fun to watch- better than TV! I'm new at this so when my brother recommended BYC, I skittered on over! I am wondering if a 4' long X 3' wide X 4' tall converted dog house will be big enough for the current 6 pullets plus six more reds. We have lots of land, but still don't want them to be overcrowded in the coop. Any suggestions?

With your coop only 12 sq ft. it sounds a bit small for 12 birds. Especially since you have good sized birds - not bantams....

That size coop will only comfortably hold about 3 full-size chickens, less if they dont have a run attached.
