Hi, we are very excited to get some hens! In the reading I have been doing some articles mention that I/we can't leave the house for the first weeks of their lives...We both work. Do people run home, get sitters, bring them to work? I need advice. Thanks for talking to me. Sarah :)

Welcome to BYC from Highland Co. Ohio!!! As long as you make sure that the chicks are fine when you leave for work and check on them as soon as you get home, I am sure that it will be ok. There is a lot of good info on this site. Good luck with your little chicks!!!

Hi and :welcome from Ohio. So glad you joined. As long as they have enough water to get them through the day. They will be fine. Just make sure the waterer is on a level survice so it doesn't leak out. :thumbsup

Welcome to the forum! I'd toss that article...who in the world wrote such drivel? Start reading here and you will find more accurate info~ if you know where to look.
