Hi everyone!

I'm excited to be building a coop for 8-12 chickens in Vermont. It's my first time getting involved with keeping chickens though - does anyone have a favorite, relatively easy-to-build design?

Thank you!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

So glad you could join our community! Stop by our coops pages. Lots of fun coops from our members. Some are easier than others and some even have very detailed plans....https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops

Just click on Small, Medium or Large Coops to get started.

And if you have any troubles along the way with the build, you can ask questions in our Coop and Run Construction forums for lots of help...https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/9/coop-run-design-construction-maintenance

Good luck and we do welcome you to our flock!

You've gotten good links to follow so I will just say "Welcome to BYC." If you have a local Craig's list, sometimes coops are offered at low prices or even free. Now and then chickens go with the coop. Even if you eventually make your own - it's always good to have an extra coop in case you need to quarantine new birds, or send bad ones to solitaire, so they can reflect on their bad behavior.
