exciting news for me.. i hope.

so when i got my duckies, i rescued them from an "auction" it's pretty much just these people sell stuff for really cheap. my ducks were 5 bucks each. so when we were looking for duckies my mom and i saw these poor pekin ducks in a dog carrier. they were dirty, it was sooo sad. i wanted to get those ones, but we were a bit traumatized from the duckling we bought a few weeks before who had passed, so my mom said maybe some other time. she wanted to save them too i could tell, but we just couldn't. we don't even have a pen or anything. well, we drove past the "auction" today. i thought hey i wana go check it out, and my mom said outloud she wanted to go, kinda weird lol. so then she said and hey if those pekins are still there we can rescue them. i wanted pekins, but i have muscovies. i am soo happy i'll get to FINALLY rescue them. it has been in the back of my mind for a long time. i kinda hope they are there, but i hope that someone else adopted them and saved them.

thank you. as do i!!! poor things!! we'll have to see. i am trying to talk my mom into going on saturday. we aren't going to be home for super bowl on sunday, but i will stay home if i have to. i don't care about football lol. but i will miss out on good food. saving duckies is more important to me!!

I would have a huge back yard full of rescues if I went to one particular market every week. There are people who have a duck farm that also sell balut. - to each their own but I am abhorrent to the idea.

I overheard them saying that the eggs in the truck were so fresh they would still be warm..I thought of buying some and taking them home to put into the incubator. But also know that to but these eggs or ducks would be supporting these people in their cruelty.

As well as the eggs they often have pekin and muscovies for sale that look dirty and sick and have feathers worn and missing. I have reported them for cruelty - but got no-where. They dont have much of a life on a commercial meat / egg farm. But I wish I would win lotto so I could buy that farm, stop production and just let all the ducks that are there live out their natural life.

I hope the people at the auction are just trying to get rid of a few pets they no longer want- and not breeding them for sale. Its sad to think that there are so many people who see $$$ and let animals live in terrible conditions just for the money...Puppie farms are the worst out here in OZ.. 50 or more female dogs locked up having litter after litter. Its not fair on the animals.

Good luck with the rescue. It would be good for them to go to a good home with other duckies.

it is horrible. i have no clue what their deal is. probably just money. they don't speak english, my guess would be illegals trying to make it in the states. it's sad. i am thinking about looking up the laws here and so i can try to turn them in. it's so sad. they have ducks on wire cages

some couldn't walk. it's sooooo sad. i'd take them all and slap them if i could lol.

i think coming home with me and having me spoil them the best can would be best. poor babies. if i eveer lived alone my house would be full of rescued animals!!!!!!!

I wanna go to the auction again but last time i went i brought home way too many birds!! lol. I got my gorgeous frizzle rooster for $.50!! he's sweet, beautiful & produces a large percentage of frizzle babies..love him. the ducks really get me though, there's a lot of icky lookin ones, which i usualyl buy, "fix" and later rehome. they get down to like $1/ea and no oen will buy them because theyre so screwed up and i just know theyll go back to that hell where they came from if i dont buy them.

awee you are sweet. i'd do that too if i could. i'm surprised my mom brought it up. we currently have 7 cats, 2 ducks, one bunny and one turtle. they kept telling me NO MORE ANIMALS HEATHER! and i'd give them the sad face, didn't work

lol. your auction is cheaper than ours. it's not so much an auction anymore. i guess it used to be years ago, but i think all the immigrants go there to sell their stuff. it's ineresting. i just feel so bad for them too. i'd take them all if i could.

our auction is now overrun with asians and mexicans (no offense meant). some are really good people & some of them bring in real nice lookin birds but others...its unreal sometimes. someone brought in small boxes one time stuffed with 5-7 ducklings each..all different ages too....there was a couple boxes with dead babies in em

one guy let me buy my old blue swedish drake from him, even thoug he bought him to eat he was totally fine with me 'saving' him

oh wow. idk how ppl can eat ducks!! they are too cute and idk about anyone else's but mine are smart too!! they are so amazing!! i'm glad you got to save the duckie from being dinner!!!
