Experience with broody hens and natural incubation by hens

To those who might have experience with broody hens, I have a question I need help with.

Those who have had hens go broody, after laying how many eggs do the hens usually go broody?

From my experience it's more with the time of year. I admit that some can go broody anytime, but most of mine usually go broody in the spring/early summer. They will lay several eggs before they seriously sit on them then the incubation period begins. Good luck and have fun...

very variable; my best layers have not gone broody, while those who have gone broody have gone twice or even three times this summer laying relatively few eggs in between broody spells
