Experience with coop warmers?

What's everyone's take on the tractor supply coop warmer? I saw really good reviews and bought one to have on hand for these low temperature drops we've been getting in florida (down in the 30s-40s). Just wanted to hear some feedback from you guys on here.

You probably shouldn't need a heater for those temps unless it goes suddenly from 80 to 30.

I have 2 of the cozy coop flat panel heaters. One in my hospital cage and one mounted on the wall of my coop for the few times a year our actual temps are in the negatives.

It doesn't really make the coop very warm but just takes the edge off because the heat does not radiate that far from the panel. They are more designed to be placed so the chickens can stand near them if they want to.

But I like them better than the lights because there is less risk of fire,

That's 'no jacket' weather for me. I can't imagine any temperature low you would see that would justify the need for supplemental heat.

I wouldn't think they would need added heat at those temperatures. What breeds do you have? Some do better than others in cold weather. I also have a cozy coop heater panel. I use it the nest box room to help keep the eggs from freezing, if I can't get to them right away. Like the previous poster said, it doesn't make it warm, in justs takes the edge off.

Yeah. It's pretty sad but, I'm actually from up north. I used to be able to go out in shorts and a t-shirt in a snow storm. I'm ashamed . But now 30s-40s feels so freezing to me because I'm used to it being 90-100 any given day. I got the heater because I have Seramas and they're just so small. I worry the sudden drops in temps will kill the poor little things . But maybe I'm just being a paranoid bird dad.

I also get concerned if we have an extreme temp drop. Usually that just means I close their chicken door at night to keep their body heat in. Otherwise they are used to living outside and all the wild birds manage just fine without a nice coop to live in.

I did use it a lot a few years ago. We had an extended artic blast and even the squirrels were freezing to death and falling out of trees in some places.
