Experience with mature Brahma roosters?

I have an almost 7 month old brahma cockerel. He is separated from my pullets due to his unwanted and overly enthusiastic mating. Does anyone have any mature Brahma roosters? What is their behavior like? I am hoping he will be protective of the flock but so far he is just kind of a lumbering rapist. I know cockerels are generally kind of obnoxious so I don't hold it against him. I'm just curious if he will become protective or if the breed is just laid back.

I have a big red Brama Roo named Bruno. He's a gentle giant. Eats out of my hand ever so gently. But he's a breeder for sure. Thats his job. He breaks up fights between other roo's sometimes, but I have seen other roo's bluff him down.
