Experiences with a chicken wire run roof?

Have you ever roofed your run with something weak like chicken wire? How'd it do?

I haven't. Your success with this might depend on your location, though. If you live in a wet area (and I do) it'll likely rust right out from over you within a couple of years.

Our run had a chicken wire roof for years, and it kept the raptors out. We were lucky, and didn't have any invaders when our run was flimsy, in part because the birds were locked in their coop at night, and we had chicken safe dogs.
Chicken wire won't keep anything else out! It will also collect wet snow, and the birds hate snow, so they won't be out unless you like shoveling.
