Total newbie here ...

In my new coop there are a few exposed nail tips in the walls (coming out the side of studs), and many in the roof (where the roof is nailed). They protrude about 1-1.5 in. and are quite sharp ... Will my birds get hurt on these? I plan on keeping the roosting bars at least 18" away from the roof rafters (which are 2x6 at 24" on-center.)

If you think for a second that they can hit it or roost on it, they will.

Don't bend the nails coming out of the roof, as you may create a gap or cause any tar that was used to seal the nail/roofing to break the seal, letting water in. Use some bolt cutters and/or cover them with wine corks.

As for the studs, tap those suckers flat.

I cut all mine off with a Dremel. Took several disks but my birds are safe and that is all that matters. Sawsall tore my wood up a bunch but is also an option. Good rule is if you see something questionable, try to hurt yourself on it. If you can then you need to fix it. Best of luck!

I'll have some hardware cloth left over from the run ... I can use that over the rafters, which will protect them from the screw points. I'll bend/bang the stud nails back
Perfect .....because it's best they not roost on the rafters anyway.
