I’m in need of some help. I have an 8x4 run that I’d like to expand the run to be 8x8 and the only way I can do it is by expanding to the right (when facing the run) my problem is that there is a hill right where I want to expand. I tried carving out part of the hill but there is a tree right behind the coop and the roots run right where I need to put it. I can’t cut the roots and risk killing the tree. That’s the shade for the coop and run. I’ve drawn a blank on how I can achieve this extension. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

You could keep the height of the run the same and make the posts at the higher end of the field shorter, that way, the up and down space in the run will decrease as the hill goes higher. Or you could add a smaller version of that, with the roof parallel to flat ground. This way, the chickens can access the space but not you, or at least without difficulty.

Both ways, you get sort of a sideways trapezoid, with the poles holding up the run as the bases. If you put mesh under your run, it will also go up diagonally.

Sorry, I don't know if this was very clear.
