Hey guys!

I'm planning on building exterior nesting boxes so I can retrieve eggs without going inside my coop. I see lots of pictures with the tops of the boxes connected to the wall with hinges for easy opening. Here's my question: How do you water/weather proof the connection between the top of the nesting box and exterior wall?

Thanks!

My nesting boxes are tucked right under the roof eave. I caulked all along where the boxes meet the coop and put a piece of roofing on top. My hinges are also located on the bottom of the boxes and the door closes, tucked right under the nesting boxes roof eave. Boxes have been dry and no problems.

I cut a long strip of rubber from an innertube, and slipped it up under the siding. This results in a "wavy" piece of rubber but it has worked effectively.
