OK... So I have a broody who is currently hatching out some eggs in my main coop. Last night I took her off as I don't think she's been eating. When I removed her she had 9 eggs under her but I only placed 6. They aren't her eggs because non of them were blue (she is my only blue egg layer) so I'm guessing my other girls have been sharing her nest.

So my question is should I remove the extra eggs or leave them under her? I marked all the fertile eggs before I placed them so would easily be able to identify the infertile eggs!

It is better to remove the new eggs. For two reasons.
it is easyer for the hen to brood on six eggs and keep the eggs warm.
When they are infertal they only get bad under the hen. Better eat them. ;)

If it where fertile eggs it is also better to remove new eggs that get in the nest. The hen leaves the nest when the first borns are getting hugnry and thirsty and start walking around. The eggs that didn't hatch get cold and the young chickies that are about to hatch die in the egg.
Thats why the best way to help the broody hen is to mark the eggs and take care that there are a couple of extra eggs are stored right. When the hen is really broody and stayes on the nest all day (minus -15 minutes) you can fill up the nest to the amount you want (e.g. 7 eggs)
