I've read several posts claiming that foods such as plain yogurt and boiled egg whites are good for chicks. Is this true? What other foods act as extra nourishment for the chicks?

Yes to my knowledge it is good for them. Also, the yogurt helps with the good bacteria they need for their stomachs. I also give mine vinegar once per week. 2tbls/gal. I mix the yogurt with their feed because its real messy otherwise. And I only gave them yogurt once a week (unless they were sick). Hope this helps.

I scramble the entire egg, some say hard boil. I don't know which is best...whites or yolk...or both.

Entire cooked egg. Yolks have most of the good nutrients.

Any one ever tried a yogurt and raw egg smoothie for the chooks?

I am pretty sure there is a treat list on here somewhere. I think the chicks should be a little bit older before giving treats aside from yogurt and eggs. I am not sure how old though...maybe 4 weeks.
