I currently have ten 6 month old chickens. One rooster and 9 hens. I think only 2 of them shouldn't be laying, but I've got dried grass in the run and they kicked it to the back of the coop, and some of them lay their eggs under the grass and maybe even under the coop. I haven't been finding eggs from ones that have bright red combs for about 2 WEEKS now, and I don't know what to do! But, anyway, that was off topic. I know that my hens LOVE oats, cooked or raw. So, recently, I've mixed in a small amount of oatmeal, and they LOVED it! So I was wondering what else they might like mixed in with their daily feed? Is raw egg OK to feed them?

Chickens will eat almost anything that will not eat them first.

It is easier to do a search on what not to feed.

Keep in mind, they will eat most everything like candy, and like candy most everything will not fulfill their dietary requirements.

Offer supplemental foods as treats, no more than 10% of their food intake.

During the winter when the hens aren't laying nearly has much, is it OK to drop their calcium intake and increase their protein?
I've been feeding mine boiled eggs that I mash up once a week (2 or 3 large). They are molting right now, but would it be good to continue this through the winter?
