About 6 months ago, I rescued a Buff Orpington hen. She was very skinny at that time, which attributed to mistreatment, but she is still skin-and-bones. She has no fat or even flesh of any sort on her body, and she must only weigh 3 pounds. She is also molting a lot, laying every day at the same time, and isn't really growing in new feathers. She is always extremely hungry, but is also the most energetic hen, and shows no fatigue despite her taxed body. I have dewormed them (though only with natural dewormers like cayenne pepper and diatomaceous earth) and the other hens seem fine in terms of fat. None of them show signs of worms or other parasites. Anything I can do to help her?

Can you post some photos of her?
How old do you think she is?
What do you feed?

You mention she is molting a lot - are you finding her feathers on the ground, does she have feather loss, bald spots? Do you see new feather growth?

You've checked her at night while roosting to make sure there are no mites - mites do not normally live on the bird, but come out to feed at night. Take a flashlight in the coop, examine the skin/feathers around the vent, under the wings, etc. for mites.

It's always a good idea to get a fecal float to confirm if she has worms and what type. If you find out she does have worms, treat her with a de-wormer. I'm sorry but natural dewormers do not work.
