This Phoenix hen has a thick watery discharge with bubbles from her left eye. I saw it a couple days ago and though she just had something in her eye, so I tried to get it out. It's still bothering her though. None of the other hens are affected.

Any ideas what is wrong?

I would separate her from the flock.

It could be a respiratory disease like Mycoplasma Gallisepticum (MG). You can flush/clean the eye with saline and apply some Vetericyn eye gel or Terramycin eye ointment in the eye 2x a day. Tylan or Oxytetracycline can be used to treat any secondary infections. Tylan dosage is 1tsp per gallon of water for 3-5days. The Oxy dosage depends on which brand you use.

Keep in mind respiratory illnesses are contagious and infected birds-even when they are showing no symptoms are considered carriers for life. I have provided you with links to common poultry diseases that will help you get started on your research.
