About five days ago, my rooster sustained an eye injury. His eyes were normal before this, and then he appeared to get into a fight. When I found him, his head was bloody and the eyelid on the injured side was swollen and inflamed. I cleaned the area with saline and applied an antibiotic eye ointment 2x daily for five days. This is definitely an injury, not an illness.

At this point, his pupil and iris appear deformed and misplaced. His third eyelid moves freely across the eye. The eye is able to open and close normally, eyeball shape looks fine, no punctures seen, there is no discharge, and the swelling has resolved. I’m looking for guidance on what these signs might indicate and whether additional treatment may be needed or if time will tell. He is not in any distress.

It was extremely hard to take a picture. Since he is still sensitive to light.

What’s frustrating is he was outside all by himself. A few months ago he sustained an injury from a predator attack possible owl, or eagle. He healed from that… but then this. Never seems to end.

@Eggcessive @Wyorp Rock for more expert opinions.
Judging by the current state of recovery, if the eyeball is actually damaged there's not too much you can do aside from what you've already done. I would say it's a wait and see. He might lose sight in that eye or it might recover a bit.
