Eye problem in Japanese quail.

One of my daughter's 3 quails has developed a pale red growth across its eye. It started at the top and is spreading down. We bathed it with a mild salt solution twice in case there was some dirt in the eye causing inflammation. I don't think she's been pecked as they don't seem peck each other. Any ideas?

Did you try anti biotic ointment on the sore?

No. Just bathed with mildly salty water. I have an anti-biotic ointment (human use), should I dilute this down some and try it?

I would put it up where the sore is if it is still like it was.

How is the eye now?

OK, will dilute some ointment now and try. The eye is still the same.
